1. Purpose & Scope
This Copyright Policy explains how The Education Story (“TES”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles copyrighted material on our platforms (websites, newsletters, apps, social channels) and describes the process for reporting alleged copyright infringement, takedowns, counter-notices, and repeat infringer policy. It applies to all content hosted or published by TES and to user-submitted content.
2. Ownership & Rights
- All original content produced and published by TES (text, images, videos, designs, code) is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws and is owned by TES or used under license.
- Unless otherwise stated, TES owns the rights to site content. Where third-party content is used under license or with permission, TES will honour the licensing terms and provide appropriate attribution.
- Users retain ownership of the content they submit, subject to any license they grant TES (see Section 4).
3. Allowed uses & Fair Use
- Users and visitors may view, share (link), and cite TES content for non-commercial, educational, and personal use, provided that proper attribution is given and the content is not modified in a way that misrepresents the original meaning or author.
- TES respects legitimate fair-use exceptions (e.g., criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, research) where allowed by applicable law. Fair use determinations are fact-specific; when in doubt, contact info@theeducationstory.com.
4. License for User-Submitted Content
By submitting content to TES (articles, comments, applications, uploads), you grant TES a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to reproduce, distribute, display, publish, adapt, and otherwise use the content in connection with operating and promoting the Services. You represent and warrant that you own the content or have the necessary rights to grant this license and that the content does not infringe third-party rights.
5. Prohibited Content
Do not submit content to TES that you do not have the right to post (including copyrighted text, images, audio, video, or software owned by others) unless you have permission or a valid legal exception. TES may remove or disable access to content that appears to infringe copyright.
6. Reporting Copyright Infringement (Takedown Notices)
If you believe your copyrighted work has been posted on TES without authorization, please provide a written notice containing the information listed below (a “Takedown Notice”). To help us process notices quickly, send the notice to: copyright@theeducationstory.com.
A valid Takedown Notice should include:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner (or authorized representative).
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed (with URL or location on TES).
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location (URL(s)).
- Contact information for the complaining party (name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address).
- A statement that the complaining party has a good-faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, agent, or law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the owner.
Upon receipt of a complete Takedown Notice, TES will:
- Acknowledge receipt by email.
- Expeditiously remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material while we investigate.
- Notify the uploader/author that their content has been removed and advise them of the option to submit a Counter-Notice if they believe removal was in error.
7. Counter-Notice (Response by Uploader)
If content you uploaded was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a Counter-Notice to copyright@theeducationstory.com containing:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material removed and its location before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, telephone number, and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court (if applicable) and that you will accept service of process from the claimant.
After receiving a valid Counter-Notice, TES will review it and may restore the material unless the claimant files a legal action to restrain the allegedly infringing use within the time provided by applicable law. TES may also keep the material removed pending resolution if circumstances warrant.
8. Repeat Infringer Policy
TES reserves the right to terminate or suspend accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers. Repeat infringers are users who have a pattern of uploading infringing material or who receive multiple valid Takedown Notices. TES will maintain records of takedowns and account history when evaluating repeat infringement.
9. Emergency & Expedited Requests
If your request involves time-sensitive or high-risk material (e.g., exposure of sensitive copyrighted content, theft of large datasets, or coordinated infringement), mark the subject line as “URGENT: Copyright takedown request” and provide clear evidence of harm. TES will prioritise urgent requests and act as appropriate.
10. Preservation of Evidence & Legal Compliance
TES may preserve copies of removed content, logs, and related metadata to comply with legal obligations, investigations, or for internal review. Such preservation does not constitute an admission of liability.
11. Third-Party Platforms & Embedded Content
If TES embeds third-party content (e.g., YouTube videos, social embeds), the host platform’s copyright policies may apply. To request removal of embedded content, consider submitting a takedown request to the content host as well as to TES where appropriate.
12. Criminal Allegations
This policy addresses civil copyright claims. If you allege criminal activity (e.g., theft, distribution of stolen data), include details in your notice and TES may refer the matter to law enforcement.
13. Record-Keeping & Transparency
TES will maintain records of takedown and counter-notice actions and may publish periodic transparency reports (summary statistics and anonymised data) about copyright enforcement activity on the platform.
14. Indemnity & Remedies
Uploaders warrant that their submissions do not infringe third-party copyrights. Uploaders agree to indemnify TES for claims arising from infringement by their content to the extent permitted by law. TES reserves all available legal remedies for infringement, including injunctive relief and monetary damages.

17. Modifications to this Policy
TES may update this Copyright Policy periodically. Material changes will be posted with an updated Effective Date. Continued use of TES after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
