Introduction
In a unique gesture to honor educators and sports personalities, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced free entry to Amrit Udyan, formerly known as the Mughal Gardens, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This initiative celebrates National Sports Day on August 29, 2024, and Teachers Day on September 5, 2024. Students, teachers, and sports enthusiasts are encouraged to explore these historic gardens while commemorating these significant occasions.
Celebrating Educators and Athletes
The UGC’s announcement is part of a broader initiative to promote sports and recognize the invaluable contributions of teachers across India. Offering free entry to Amrit Udyan not only fosters the spirit of sportsmanship but also honors educators’ critical role in society. This initiative allows visitors to engage with the rich cultural heritage of Rashtrapati Bhavan while celebrating two essential days on our national calendar.
How to Visit Amrit Udyan
During this period, students and faculty members can visit Amrit Udyan without any entry fee. The UGC has requested higher education institutions to inform their students, faculty, and staff about this opportunity. Interested visitors can book their tours online by visiting the official Rashtrapati Bhavan website and navigating to the ‘Amrit Udyan’ link under the ‘Visit‘ tab.
Visitors must present a valid ID card for entry, ensuring a streamlined and accessible process. The UGC has also issued a special invitation to athletes, staff, and teachers in Delhi, NCR, to join in the festivities on the scheduled days.
