Age Limit

Educational Qualification

Paper I — Level 1 (Class 1–5):

Exam Pattern

  • Paper I — Primary Level (Class 1–5): Firstly, CBSE tests Paper I candidates across five sections — Child Development & Pedagogy (30 marks), Language I (30 marks), Language II (30 marks), Mathematics (30 marks), and Environmental Studies (30 marks) — totalling 150 marks in 150 minutes. Notably, all questions are multiple-choice type (MCQ) with no negative marking. Consequently, candidates must attempt all 150 questions confidently within the time limit.
  • Paper II — Elementary Level (Class 6–8): Subsequently, Paper II covers Child Development & Pedagogy (30 marks), Language I (30 marks), Language II (30 marks), and Subject-specific Paper (60 marks) — also totalling 150 marks in 150 minutes. Specifically, the subject-specific section covers Mathematics & Science for Maths/Science teachers and Social Studies / Social Science for Social Studies teachers. Moreover, candidates can additionally opt for any other subject as per their specialisation.
  • Qualifying Marks: Furthermore, candidates must secure a minimum of 60% marks (90 out of 150) to qualify the CTET examination. Additionally, reserved category candidates receive a 5% relaxation as per applicable CBSE norms.
