Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

UPESSC has not prescribed a minimum or maximum age for the UPTET 2026 examination. Age relaxation is, however, provided to eligible categories as per UPESSC regulations — candidates should consult the official notification for specific relaxation details.

Educational Qualification

For the Primary Teacher (Class 1–5) post, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree from an NCTE-recognised institution along with a valid teacher training qualification such as BTC, B.El.Ed, or an equivalent program. A minimum of 50% marks in graduation or in the relevant training program is generally required, and final-year candidates of these courses are also eligible to apply.

For the Upper Primary Teacher (Class 6–8) post, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks — or 45% in certain cases as per applicable rules — from an NCTE-recognised institution, combined with a teacher training qualification such as B.Ed, BTC, B.El.Ed, or an equivalent. Additionally, candidates holding specialised education qualifications from RCI-recognised institutes are eligible. Candidates who have secured 50% marks in intermediate and are enrolled in a 4-year integrated teaching program may also apply.
