About the Programme

National Institute of Technology Warangal, formerly known as Regional Engineering College, was established in 1959 as the first in the chain of 31 NITs across the country. Recognized as an Institute of National Importance, it features state-of-the-art infrastructure and a dedicated faculty focused on technical excellence and holistic student development.

Currently, the Department of Mechanical Engineering is executing an advanced manufacturing research project supported by AR&DB, DRDO under an ISRO research initiative. Consequently, the Project Assistant NIT Warangal position provides hands-on exposure to cutting-edge manufacturing research, particularly concerning the post-processing of additive-manufactured conformal cooling channels.

Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification

  • First class with not less than 60% aggregate marks (or a CGPA of at least 6.5 on a 10-point scale) in B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
  • Followed by an M.Tech. in Manufacturing, Production, Materials Technology, Welding Technology, Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Systems Engineering Design, Powder Metallurgy, or any other relevant specialization in Mechanical Engineering with the same academic standard.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Candidates possessing hands-on experience in additive manufacturing, operating powder bed machines or laser DED machines, and conducting experimentation in post-processing are preferred.

Age Limit & Other Conditions

  • The upper age limit is set at 35 years.
  • Age relaxation is applicable up to 5 years for SC/ST, PWBD, and Women candidates, and 3 years for OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates.

Job Profile & Responsibilities

  • Conducting experimental research on post-processing techniques for additive manufactured conformal cooling channels using pulsed electrochemical polishing and abrasive chemical polishing.

  • Assisting project investigators with documentation, technical reporting, and data analysis.
  • Operating full-time at the NIT Warangal campus laboratories.
